During device setup, you will be prompted to test the Phyn Smart Water Sensor to confirm it is properly connected and online.
Note: If the test fails in the app, you can select Skip test to continue setup. The sensor test can be performed at any time, not just during initial setup.
Before you begin
Ensure the Phyn Smart Water Sensor has fresh batteries
Ensure the sensor is paired in the Phyn app
Ensure the sensor is connected to your home Wi-Fi network
Test the Phyn Smart Water Sensor
Press and release the button on the side of the Smart Water Sensor.
The Phyn logo will flash blue several times, followed by a green flash and three beeps.
You will receive an SMS alert stating:
“Phyn Alert for Sensor (sensor name and location): Your device is set up and monitoring”In the Phyn app, go to Menu > Smart Water Sensors > Sensor Name and confirm Last Updated shows a recent time (for example, “Today at 1:59 PM”).
Troubleshooting
If you do not see the light flashes or hear the beeps:
Repeat step 1 using a slightly longer press of the side button
If the issue continues, try the following steps:
Remove the back cover, take out both batteries, reinsert them, and securely close the cover.
Press and release the button on the side of the Smart Water Sensor.
Confirm the logo flashes blue, followed by a green flash and three beeps.
Verify you receive the SMS alert and that Last Updated refreshes in the app.
If problems persist, check the following:
Battery strength in the Phyn app under Menu > Settings > Device > Sensor > Battery Level
Battery status will display as Good (100%–26%) or Low (25% or lower)
Tapping the status shows the exact battery percentage
Replace batteries if the level is low
After replacing batteries:
Perform the sensor test again
If the test still fails:
Confirm the sensor appears in the device list in the Phyn app
If it does not appear, the sensor will need to be paired again
If it does appear, confirm your home Wi-Fi network is connected to the internet
