Unlike traditional systems, Phyn does not use a flow sensor. Instead, it analyzes pressure changes in your plumbing system to understand how water is being used.
Each fixture in your home — such as a shower, faucet, or toilet — creates a unique pressure pattern, sometimes referred to as a “pressure voice.” Phyn uses these pressure patterns to:
Identify which fixture is running
Estimate how much water is being used
Water usage amounts are displayed in the app as estimated ranges. Over time, these ranges become more precise as the system learns your home’s plumbing patterns and usage habits.
As Phyn gathers more data from your home, fixture identification and usage estimates continue to improve.
