What types of Wi-Fi security protocols does the Phyn Smart Water Sensor support?

Last updated on 30 Jan, 2026

The Phyn Smart Water Sensor works best with WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access II). WPA2 has been required on all Wi-Fi CERTIFIED products since 2006 and provides a strong level of security for home networks.

The Phyn Smart Water Sensor supports connections to routers configured with the following Wi-Fi security protocols:

  • WEP – Not recommended – Networks using WEP can be easily compromised

  • WPA2 Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK, PSK2, WPA2-PSK with AES only, WPA2-PSK/AES)

  • WPA/WPA2 Personal (also known as WPA/WPA2 Mixed Mode, WPA/WPA2-PSK, WPA/WPA2 with TKIP/AES, PSK2-Mixed)

Note: The Wi-Fi Security Alliance strongly recommends that networks using WEP or WPA upgrade to WPA2 Personal or WPA/WPA2 Personal (Mixed Mode) for improved security.
