Why Does Plumbing Check Alert Me Every Time If I Don’t Have a Leak?

Last updated on 26 Feb, 2026

If Plumbing Check sends you a leak alert, it is usually caused by one of the following:

  • A small leak that may not be visible, such as a pinhole leak behind a wall or under flooring.

  • A fixture or appliance that uses water intermittently in the background (for example, a whole-home humidifier, ice maker, or water softener).

Even small or slow water usage during the test can cause a pressure drop that triggers a Plumbing Check alert.

What You Can Do

  1. Make sure no water is running in your home before starting Plumbing Check. This includes appliances that may cycle automatically.

  2. If alerts continue, try shutting off all water overnight while no fixtures are in use.

  3. Monitor the real-time pressure readings in the Phyn app.

If you notice a significant pressure drop while no water is being used, it may indicate a hidden leak.
