Yes. A mobile phone number is required during Phyn account setup. Phyn uses mobile numbers to deliver important alerts via SMS and to support key safety features.
Why a mobile number is required
Phyn is designed to send time-sensitive notifications using:
SMS text messages
Push notifications through the Phyn app
Because of this, the phone number entered during setup must be a mobile number capable of receiving SMS.
Can I use a landline number?
No. Landline phone numbers are not supported.
If you attempt to enter a landline number, you’ll receive an error message and won’t be able to complete account setup with that number.
What if I don’t want SMS notifications?
You can still receive alerts by email:
Complete account setup using a mobile number
Choose email notifications in your notification settings
If you change your preferences later, you can manage notification options in the Phyn app under:
Menu > Settings > Account
