How can I tell if the outlet under my sink is switched?

If you’re not sure whether the outlet under your sink is controlled by a switch (such as a garbage disposal switch), you can test it easily.

How to check

1. Plug your phone charger into the outlet you want to test.

2. Connect your phone to the charger.

3. If your phone starts charging, the outlet is unswitched.

4. If your phone does not charge, turn on the switch that controls the disposal.

5. If your phone begins charging when the switch is turned on, the outlet is switched.
