Pairing Error – Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength

Last updated on 25 Feb, 2026

You may see the message:

“Double check that you have adequate Wi-Fi signal strength and that your Wi-Fi password is correct”

This error typically appears during the second step of device pairing, after selecting your home network and entering your Wi-Fi password.

It usually means one of the following:

  • The Wi-Fi password was entered incorrectly

  • The Wi-Fi signal is too weak at the device location

  • The router has MAC address filtering enabled

Step 1: Confirm Your Wi-Fi Password

  1. Verify that you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password.

  2. Manually type the password instead of using auto-fill.

  3. Confirm you are connecting to the 2.4 GHz network if your router broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

If the password is incorrect, pairing will fail.

Step 2: Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength

If you are sure the password is correct:

  1. Move the Phyn device closer to your Wi-Fi router, mesh node, access point, or extender.

  2. Attempt pairing again while standing next to the router.

If pairing succeeds near the router but fails in the installation location, the signal is too weak in that area.

To resolve weak signal issues:

  • Move the router or mesh node closer

  • Install a Wi-Fi range extender

  • Add an additional mesh node

Check for MAC Address Filtering

If your router has MAC address filtering enabled, the Phyn device may be blocked from connecting.

If MAC filtering is enabled:

  • Add the Phyn device’s MAC address to the router’s allowed list

  • Then attempt pairing again

If you continue to experience issues, you may need to review your router’s Wi-Fi settings or security configuration.
