Normal water pressure ranges and High Base Pressure alerts

Last updated on 30 Jan, 2026

Normal household water pressure varies by country and is defined by local plumbing standards.

Phyn monitors your average water pressure over a 24-hour period. A High Base Pressure alert is sent when that average exceeds the maximum recommended range for your country.

For example, in the United States and Canada, a High Base Pressure alert is triggered if the 24-hour average pressure is above 80 psi.

If you receive a High Base Pressure alert, prolonged high pressure may increase the risk of leaks or appliance damage. In many cases, installing or adjusting a Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) can help keep pressure within a safe range.
