Phyn’s AI has been trained on nearly two billion water events. Using this data, Enhanced Plumbing Checks improve leak detection accuracy while reducing misidentified alerts and delivering clearer, more helpful messaging about your plumbing system.
When Scheduled Plumbing Checks are enabled, Phyn will make up to three attempts to complete a check:
The first attempt runs at the scheduled time
If blocked or interrupted, a second attempt runs 30 minutes later
If that attempt is also blocked or interrupted, a third and final attempt runs 30 minutes after the second
Only after all three attempts are blocked or interrupted will a push notification be sent to notify you of the issue.
Plumbing Check Statuses
A Plumbing Check may be marked as Blocked or Interrupted depending on what prevented it from completing.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: Existing Water Usage Detected
What does this mean?
Phyn’s Smart Plumbing Check (SPC) detected water flowing before the test began, most likely due to intentional usage, and skipped the check to avoid interruption.
What can I do?
Set the plumbing check schedule during a time when no water is being used in the home.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Interrupted
Reason: Water Usage Detected During the Plumbing Check
What does this mean?
Phyn detected intentional water usage that started during the plumbing check and stopped the test so your water could continue flowing.
What can I do?
Set the plumbing check schedule during a time when no water is being used in the home.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: Low Pressure
What does this mean?
Phyn determined there was not enough water pressure to start the Smart Plumbing Check.
What can I do?
Ensure the manual water shut-off valve is not closed during the scheduled plumbing check.
Set the plumbing check schedule during a time when no water is being used in the home.
Ensure your home’s base water pressure is not lower than 20 psi.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Interrupted
Reason: Thermal Expansion (Pressure Rise Detected)
What does this mean?
Pressure increased significantly during the plumbing check, often due to hot water expanding in the pipes.
What can I do?
Ensure systems such as recirculation pumps are not active during or just before the scheduled plumbing check.
Set the plumbing check schedule during a time when no water is being used in the home.
Ensure your thermal expansion tank and/or water heater is operating within manufacturer guidelines.
Consider scheduling the plumbing check during a period of stable water pressure.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: Shut-Off Valve Already Closed
What does this mean?
Phyn detected that the shut-off valve was already closed before the plumbing check started.
What can I do?
Verify the shut-off valve is open before running a plumbing check.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Interrupted
Reason: Pressure Fluctuation
What does this mean?
Pressure fluctuated too much during the test to complete a reliable analysis.
What can I do?
Ensure systems such as recirculation pumps are not active during the scheduled plumbing check.
Set the plumbing check schedule during a time when no water is being used in the home.
Choose a time when water pressure is typically stable.
Consider installing a Pressure Regulating Valve or having an existing one inspected by a professional.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: Data Timeout
What does this mean?
Network connectivity issues prevented Phyn from completing the plumbing check reliably.
What can I do?
Power cycle your Phyn device.
Check your Wi-Fi and broadband connection to ensure stability before the next scheduled check.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Interrupted
Reason: Low Pressure
What does this mean?
The average pressure during the plumbing check dropped below 5 psi.
What can I do?
Ensure the water shut-off valve is open during the scheduled plumbing check.
Schedule plumbing checks when no automated or continuous water systems are running.
Ensure your home’s base water pressure is not lower than 20 psi.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: Shut-Off Valve Unresponsive
What does this mean?
Phyn was unable to open or close the shut-off valve or experienced a communication failure.
What can I do?
Power cycle your Phyn device.
Confirm your Wi-Fi and broadband network are functioning properly.
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Interrupted
Reason: Other
What does this mean?
The plumbing check could not be completed due to an unspecified issue.
What can I do?
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Power cycle your Phyn device.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: User Cancelled
What does this mean?
The scheduled plumbing check was canceled by the user before it started.
What can I do?
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: Plumbing Check Already in Progress
What does this mean?
A manually started plumbing check was already running when the scheduled check attempted to start.
What can I do?
Review the results of the manually run plumbing check.
Avoid running manual plumbing checks near the scheduled check time.
Plumbing Check Blocked
Reason: Other
What does this mean?
The Smart Plumbing Check could not start due to an unspecified issue.
What can I do?
Consider running a manual plumbing check at your earliest convenience.
Power cycle your Phyn device.
