Despite the reference in the error message to the network password, the message, "Pairing Error - There is an issue pairing the Phyn to your network. Please check your password and try again. For further assistance please contact customer support" is normally displayed when the Phyn device is located too far away from the Wi-Fi router or Wi-Fi access point.

  1. The Phyn is in pairing mode.
  2. In the Phyn App, you connect to the Phyn SSID through Wi-Fi
  3. The Phyn app will display a list of networks
  4. Click on the network name and enter the network password
  5. "Pairing your Phyn Device" will be displayed while the Phyn App attempts to pair the Phyn device to the network.
  6. When the pairing fails because the network is too far away, this message is displayed. "Pairing Error - There is an issue pairing the Phyn to your network. Please check your password and try again. For further assistance please contact customer support"

You can re-attempt the pairing process and you may be successful, but after pairing, you will need to improve the network signal. The network signal will display as "poor" in the Device settings.

You can either move the router or the Wi-Fi extender closer to the Phyn and re-attempt pairing. If you continually experience this pairing error, you may need to purchase a Wi-Fi Extender .

Note: This error message may also appear if you attempt to pair a device that has an older version of the Phyn Firmware. The pairing experience will be different however:

  1. The Phyn is in pairing mode.
  2. In the Phyn App, you connect to the Phyn SSID through Wi-Fi
  3. The Phyn app will immediately display "Searching for networks" at the Connect to Network screen, but no networks will appear.
  4. The Phyn App will display this error message without a network ever having been visible or selected in the Phyn App - "Pairing Error - There is an issue pairing the Phyn to your network. Please check your password and try again. For further assistance please contact customer support"

If you are experiencing the issue described above, contact Phyn Customer Support.
