You may see the following error message during device setup:
“Pairing Error – There is an issue pairing the Phyn to your network. Please check your password and try again. For further assistance please contact customer support.”
Despite referencing the network password, this error is most commonly caused by weak Wi-Fi signal strength at the Phyn device location.
What’s happening during pairing
The Phyn device is in pairing mode
In the Phyn app, you connect to the Phyn Wi-Fi (SSID)
The app displays a list of available Wi-Fi networks
You select your home network and enter the password
The app shows Pairing your Phyn Device while attempting to connect
If the Wi-Fi router, access point, or extender is too far away, pairing may fail and this error message will appear.
What you can do
Retry the pairing process to see if it completes successfully.
If pairing completes but signal strength shows as Poor in Device Settings, improve the network signal.
Move your Wi-Fi router or extender closer to the Phyn device.
If needed, install a Wi-Fi range extender near the Phyn device location.
Another possible cause: older firmware
This error may also appear if the Phyn device is running an older firmware version. In this case, the experience will look slightly different:
The Phyn device is in pairing mode
You connect to the Phyn SSID through Wi-Fi
The app immediately shows Searching for networks
No Wi-Fi networks ever appear on the Connect to Network screen
The error message appears without any network being selected
