Device Shows Offline in Phyn App but Connected in Router
If pairing fails immediately after the message:
“Your App has now been updated”
and your device appears:
Connected in your router’s device list
Offline in the Phyn app
this usually means your router is blocking the Phyn device.
Why This Happens
Many routers include built-in antivirus or network security software designed to protect your network.
Phyn devices continuously upload sensor data to the Phyn Cloud (approximately 5–6 GB per month). Some router security systems mistakenly interpret this steady communication as suspicious activity and automatically block or quarantine the device’s MAC address.
When this happens, pairing cannot complete successfully.
How to Verify and Fix the Issue
Step 1: Check Your Router Settings
Log in to your router’s web interface.
Open the list of connected devices (often called Network Map or Device List).
Look for the Phyn device. It may appear as:
Phyn
PC (Personal Computer)
Or by its MAC address
Check if the device has been placed in:
Quarantine
Blacklist
Blocked Devices
Netgear Access Control (if applicable)
Remove the device from quarantine or blacklist.
Allow the device full internet access.
In most cases, once the device is allowed on the network, it will immediately appear Online in the Phyn app.
No additional steps are required.
If the Device Is Still Offline
If removing it from quarantine does not resolve the issue:
Temporarily disable your router’s antivirus or network security software.
Place the Phyn device into pairing mode.
To enter pairing mode:
Press the blue button.
Confirm the LED displays the “Searching” pattern (blue lights moving outward from the center).
If the device is not in pairing mode, perform a factory reset.
Open the Phyn app.
Tap Menu.
Tap Add Home.
Tap Set Up a New Home.
Select your device type (Phyn Plus or Phyn Smart Water Assistant).
Follow the on-screen instructions to re-pair the device.
Important
Router configuration issues must be resolved through your router’s settings.
Phyn Customer Support cannot modify router security settings on your behalf. If you are unsure how to adjust your router settings, contact your router manufacturer’s technical support team.
