Why am I seeing this notice?
Phyn Protect is being introduced as part of the transition from Phyn Plus. This notice provides information about the transition and what it means for Phyn Plus customers.
How does Phyn Protect differ from existing Phyn products?
Phyn Protect provides whole-home smart water monitoring and automatic leak protection in a single device. It connects to your home’s main water line to monitor water use, identify potential leaks and plumbing issues, and automatically or remotely shut off the water when needed. Like Phyn Plus, it uses Phyn’s high-definition pressure sensing and intelligent analysis to help detect everything from small leaks to major plumbing issues.
What is the difference between the Phyn Plus and the Phyn Protect?
Phyn Protect builds on the same core Phyn technology, including whole-home water monitoring, leak detection, automatic shutoff, and remote control through the Phyn app. It features an updated design and product specifications.
When will the Protect replace the Plus and be available for direct purchase?
Phyn Protect is being introduced as part of the transition from Phyn Plus. Availability and timing may vary by channel and region.
Will this include ongoing support and warranty coverage for the Phyn Plus?
Phyn Plus customers can continue to use their devices and the Phyn app. Support and warranty coverage remain subject to the terms applicable to each product.
What is included in the box?
The Phyn Protect package includes the Phyn Protect device with a 4.2-foot outdoor-rated power cable. The device features 1" male threaded connections designed to adapt to a variety of plumbing configurations.
What pipe sizes are supported?
Phyn Protect has 1" male threaded (NPSM) ends and is compatible with pipe sizes up to 1 1/4". Its fittings are designed to adapt to different plumbing materials, including PEX, copper, and PVC.
Do I need a plumber to install it?
Because Phyn Protect connects directly to your home's main water line, professional installation by a qualified plumber is recommended. Installation requires working with the home's water supply and existing plumbing connections.
Where should it be installed?
Phyn Protect is designed to be installed on the main water line, allowing it to monitor water use and provide whole-home leak protection. It can be installed indoors or outdoors and can be oriented horizontally or vertically. The device is IP55 rated and tested for exposure to heat, UV, cold, and humidity.
What fittings do I need?
Phyn Protect has 1" male threaded (NPSM) ends. Additional fittings or adapters may be required depending on your home's existing pipe size, plumbing material, and installation configuration. It is designed to work with common plumbing materials including PEX, copper, and PVC.
Can I use my existing fittings?
Potentially, yes. Phyn Protect is designed to adapt to different plumbing materials and configurations, but compatibility depends on the size, type, and condition of your existing fittings. A qualified plumber can determine whether your current fittings can be reused or whether adapters or replacement fittings are needed.
What type of Wi-Fi does it require?
Phyn Protect requires 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and supports 802.11 b/g/n. It uses an integrated internal antenna for connectivity. The Phyn app supports the two latest versions of iOS and Android.
