Wi-Fi Requirements for Setting Up Your Phyn Device

To set up your Phyn device, you will need the following information about your home Wi-Fi network. If you are not sure, check with the person who set up your network.

Required Wi-Fi information

  • Network name (SSID)
    This is the name of your Wi-Fi network (for example, “John’s Wi-Fi”).

  • Network password

  • SSID must be visible
    Hidden networks are not supported.

  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi must be enabled
    Phyn devices connect using the 2.4 GHz band.

  • Dedicated 2.4 GHz network required
    Mesh or band-steering networks that use a single SSID for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are not supported.

  • MAC address filtering must be disabled
    If enabled on your router, temporarily disable it during setup.

  • Supported security types

    • WPA2-Personal

    • WPA/WPA2-Personal

How to check your Wi-Fi security type (Windows)

  1. Make sure your computer is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.

  2. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray.

  3. Select your connected Wi-Fi network.

  4. Click Properties.

  5. Scroll to Security type to view the setting.
