Away Mode is a Phyn Plus feature that increases sensitivity to water activity when you’re away from home. It’s ideal for vacations or extended time away, when there should be little to no water use.
Away Mode is available in Phyn app version 4.6.1 or later.
How Away Mode works
When Away Mode is enabled, Phyn closely monitors your plumbing for unexpected water use.
Any continuous water flow lasting 1 minute or longer, at any flow rate, will trigger an alert
This applies even to very low flow events
Important: If you have fixtures that run continuously—such as whole-home humidifiers or similar systems—Away Mode may generate alerts and, if Auto Shutoff is enabled, turn off your water.
What you’ll see in the app
Away Mode enabled
If continuous flow is detected for 1 minute or longer, you’ll receive an alert:
“Phyn Alert for [home name]: A low flow was detected today at [time] while in Away Mode.”
Away Mode and Auto Shutoff enabled
If continuous flow is detected for 1-5 minutes, and Auto Shutoff is enabled, Phyn will shut off your water after sending this alert:
“Phyn Alert for [home name]: A low flow was detected today at [time] while in Away Mode. Your water has been turned off.”
