What type of external Wi-Fi antenna is compatible with the Phyn Plus 1st Generation device?

Last updated on 30 Jan, 2026

The Phyn Plus 1st Generation device includes a female RP-SMA antenna port located underneath the rubberized port access flap on the end of the device. This port has outer threads and a male center pin and can be used with a compatible external Wi-Fi antenna.

Compatible antenna requirements

  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi antenna

  • Male RP-SMA connector

  • Inner threads with a center receptacle (not a male pin)

Antenna options

Mid-range external Wi-Fi antennas provide a signal boost of approximately 9–11 dBi and are widely available.

  • Search online for: 2.4ghz 9dbi RP-SMA Wi-Fi antenna

Higher-range external Wi-Fi antennas provide a stronger boost of approximately 15–18 dBi. Some models include a mounting base and a coaxial extension cable for flexible placement.

  • Search online for: 2.4ghz 15dbi RP-SMA Wi-Fi antenna

Important note

  • If an external antenna does not provide sufficient signal strength for your installation, a Wi-Fi range extender may be required to improve connectivity
