If you’re having trouble pairing the Phyn App with your Phyn Plus or connecting the device to your Wi-Fi network, the tips below can help resolve the most common setup issues.
Before You Start
Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when you first open the Phyn App (before connecting to Phyn.Plus.XXX).
Stand close to the Phyn Plus device during setup to ensure a strong connection.
App Permissions
When installing the Phyn App, tap Allow when prompted for Location and Files permissions.
If you tap Deny, the pairing process cannot be completed on either iOS or Android.
Bluetooth
If pairing fails, try turning Bluetooth off on your phone or tablet and retry the setup.
Wi-Fi & Network Tips
Phyn Plus requires a strong 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal at the installation location (often a basement).
Check that your home’s network SSID is visible where the device is installed.
If the SSID is visible but weak, pairing may fail.
If the SSID is not visible, follow standard Wi-Fi troubleshooting steps before retrying setup.
Mesh Network Considerations
Pairing with a mesh Wi-Fi network may require changes to your network configuration.
In some cases, the device may pair successfully but appear to go online and offline repeatedly.
For more details, see the Mesh Network compatibility article.
Router Distance & Signal Strength
During the second step of pairing, Phyn Plus connects to your home Wi-Fi network.
If your router is too far from the device, pairing may fail.
If issues persist:
Move your router or Wi-Fi extender closer to the device, or
Install a Wi-Fi range extender
(Phyn Plus 1st Generation only: an external Wi-Fi antenna may also be used)
